Shlomi Wolman’s Pop-Up exhibition presents Equilibrium, an architectural interpretation of the unwritten sixth chapter of Italo Calvino’s Six Memos for the Next Millennium. Inspired by Calvino’s unfinished series of lectures, Wolman proposes Equilibrium as a sixth principle for the twenty-first century.
The exhibition presents an architectural manifesto built around the tension between system and freedom. Rather than relying on fixed classical orders, Wolman explores structures shaped by gravity, balance and material behavior. Through tension, flexibility and the physical properties of matter, the works propose a system that contains freedom within it.
Poised at the threshold between stability and collapse, the installations embody a state of continuous tension. It is precisely at this point of near rupture that Wolman locates the possibility of freedom—an equilibrium sustained not through rigidity, but through constant negotiation between opposing forces.
