IRuth Orr and Ami Raviv’s two-person exhibition brings together sculptural practices that engage in dialogue with the wall, with materiality, and with one another. Their works are at once minimal and tactile, abstract yet deeply rooted in physical reality, balancing solidity with vulnerability and distance with intimacy.
Ruth Orr transforms her studio into a workshop for producing silicone threads, elevating an industrial sealing material into the primary medium of her practice. Through weaving, braiding and knotting, she creates monochromatic surfaces that oscillate between weight and lightness, rigidity and delicacy. Although carefully constructed, these woven forms remain subject to the material’s own internal forces, producing folds, distortions and moments of tension that suggest continual transformation.
Facing Orr’s elastic structures, Ami Raviv presents works that inhabit the space between painting and sculpture. Built from layered MDF panels coated with PVC, their surfaces bear the traces of cutting, carving and erosion. Acrylic paint and pigment transform the material into textures that evoke rusted metal, worn fabric or scorched earth. Beneath their restrained geometric forms lies an exploration of memory, the body and its traces. Through touch and physical contact, Raviv embeds subtle impressions that reveal fragile layers beneath the works’ austere exterior.
Together, the exhibition proposes a dialogue between two distinct artistic languages. Industrial materials acquire an unexpected organic presence, while abstraction becomes a means of exploring fragility, repair and the enduring imprint of lived experience.
