The exhibition brings together recent oil paintings on canvas alongside selected works from previous years, including oil pastel works on wood and charcoal drawings. Working from both observation and memory, Max Friedman develops a painterly language that moves between direct engagement with the visible world and the traces it leaves behind.
A painter deeply committed to the medium, Friedman creates works that resonate with the history of painting while remaining grounded in the act of looking. Landscapes, fields, vegetation, and fragments of everyday surroundings emerge through a restrained use of color and material, inviting sustained attention to subtle shifts of light, atmosphere, and perception.
The exhibition offers a space in which painting itself becomes the subject: an ongoing dialogue between seeing and remembering, presence and absence, observation and imagination.
