Aya Amikam’s Pop-Up exhibition explores seriality and repetition through ceramics, drawing, animation and mixed-media practice. Working across materials including clay and paper, Amikam investigates how a series comes into being and what unfolds between its first and last image.
At the heart of the exhibition lies a simple yet fundamental question: When is enough? How does one know when to stop making a series? Is it when a single “successful” image appears, or do the works created along the way hold equal significance? Rather than seeking definitive answers, Amikam embraces repetition as a generative process in which each variation reshapes the meaning of those that came before and after.
The exhibition also presents Amikam’s self-defined practice of “Claymation”—a term she coined to describe hand-drawn animation created directly on clay. This process extends her investigation of seriality into moving images, raising questions about how many frames are needed to create convincing animation, how different materials shape the image, and how the choice of medium transforms the creative process itself.
Pinch Me More invites viewers to consider repetition not as duplication, but as a space for discovery, where images, materials and gestures continuously evolve through variation.
